It’s been Flu 2011 around Baileysland. Brian got sick last Friday, and by Sunday we were trying to decide whether or not to take him to the ER. He was coughing up blood, so I thought he probably had pneumonia. The Hill Theory of Relatives worked out for us — I always have a cousin somewhere who can help. In this case, it was a cousin who works at our doctor’s office. She called the next morning and helped get Brian in early enough for him to still work. Turns out he has Type A Influenza. Good times, let me tell you. This of course meant I had been exposed and was probably contagious. Brian suffered through it and is just now feeling human again. I took elderberry syrup, doubled my vitamin D3, and spent 2 days drinking pine needle tea. It’s an anti-viral, and I feel pretty good. I never did get the full-blown flu, and only felt like I was fighting something. We’re both still pretty tired, but I think we’ll make it. All in all, it made for a rough but very lazy week around our house. I’m personally glad for a weekend!
Thank God….It’s Friday!
We’re feeling better. Thank God for good resources and advice from friends, and in my case, for pine trees!
Mama was also sick, but seems to be feeling better last I talked to her.
The weather has been fabulous the past few days! I’m so thankful for open windows.
Brian still needs a new job, and for his current situation to stop being so stressful.
Brian’s dad has pneumonia. Last we heard he was doing well and had returned to work, but keep him in your prayers. Ditto MadHat76 who is still actively dealing with Lyme disease and our various family members with flu and such.
A family on Mama and Daddy’s street lost their son this past week. He was a quadriplegic following a gun shot a few years ago, and I know they feel this loss sorely. Please keep their family in your prayers during what must be a rough time.
I’ll be losing one of my sweet munchkins in about two months. She’s moving on to a center-based daycare, and I will miss her so much. I pray that she settles in well and is happy, and that I can fill that spot quickly.
Have a fabulous weekend, and
if you’re in the Valley — enjoy the weather!
