From 2008 through the end of 2010, this was an infertility blog. So a lot of the posts from that time have abbreviations in them. If you are infertile, or “have IF”, you’re probably familiar with all the abbreviations used on various bulletin boards and blogs dealing with infertility. If not, well then it looks like alphabet soup sometimes. I guess every “subculture” has its own jargon, right? When Brian first told me he was into MMORPGs, I had no idea what he meant. You catch on eventually.
But to make it easier for the non-infertility folks that visit my blog, here’s a list of abbreviations that may show up from time to time when I forget to write things out.
IF = infertility
O = ovulation
TWW = two week wait. This is the time after ovulation but before you can reliably take a home pregnancy test.
HPT = home pregnancy test
OPK = ovulation predictor kit, or fertility monitor, in my case
POAS = pee on a stick. Aren’t you glad you asked?
